Volunteer Line Manager

If you’ve ever led a small team in work or a voluntary position, you’ll have the skills to help support the leaders who put on activities for the young people.

What’s involved

  • Support the volunteers in the Beaver Scout, Cub Scout and Scout sections of the Group
  • Ensure all young people are kept safe and that all Leaders are aware of their safety responsibilities
  • Help with recruitment of new volunteers
  • Ensure all adults have appropriate training and disclosure
  • Work with the Group Chair to ensure the Group has an effective Executive Committee
  • Be a member of the Group board of trustees
  • Planning for the future

What you’ll get out of it

We’re not going to lie – this is quite an involved role. But the reward is seeing potentially over a hundred young people filing through your premises’ doors every week to take part in some incredible activities. It’s also being there for the Activity Organisers, Skill Sharers, Admin Support and Trustees who all make up the incredible team of volunteers that is a Scout Group, and them being there for you. You get a sense of belonging, and a sense of achievement.

What we need from you

We’d need you to complete a DBS check and do some basic training within 5 months of you starting. Then there is some more training to do which will cover other parts of the role, but this takes prior knowledge and experience into account, and if you do need support it can be done on the job – and even better, you have 3 whole years to do this if you need it!
