First training weekend camp
Unit 56 held their first training weekend camp, during the camp, the participants had four workshops to complete (prepared by the leaders: Richard, Conor, Adam and Emma). The four workshops consisted of mental health, first aid, bag packing and personal hygiene, and teamwork.
Unit Team Member, Emma, said “Each of the young people learned something and worked well together as a Unit. This will be great for when we go to the Jamboree as teamwork is one of the most important things that we need to focus on.”
The participants also had to make their Saturday lunch and dinner in patrols, dinner was a Polish dish, made with sausages and potatoes.
On Sunday, the participants took part in a hike to get items for lunch and then came back to camp to make it, as the leaders needed to simulate a Jamboree style experience.

Some comments from the weekend:
Charley from Taceham Hundred said, “I’ve learnt that working as a team makes tasks less stressful and enjoyable. I’ve enjoyed meeting new people.”
Heather from Kennet said “I’ve learnt how to pack my bag more efficiently and made new friends. I’ve enjoyed eating soup.”
Tristan from Windsor & Eton said “I’ve learnt how to make a tripod and tie knots. I’ve enjoyed the activities.”
Amarvir from Slough said “I’ve learnt the importance of knowing how to pack a bag and I’ve enjoyed cooking as a group.”
Lucas from Maidenhead said “I’ve learned that communication is key.”
January training day
Unit 56 had their second training day. The participants were put to the test and learned about time management, leadership and teamwork, by getting involved in a sustainability challenge, making their lunch and doing a hike. This made sure the participants started getting ready with good time management for Jamboree. Our lunch was Zapiekanka (a type of Polish pizza) and this was made by the participants and cooked over an open fire.

Richard Andrews, Unit Team Leader said, “It’s been inspiring to watch this unit begin to take shape. Even at this early stage, the young people are stepping forward, recognising their strengths, and supporting one another in a way that shows real promise. As leaders, we can already see a team forming that listens, learns, and lifts each other up. Poland 2027 will challenge us, stretch us, and change us — and this group is already proving it’s ready for that adventure.”
