Hello October, hello Halloween

We might only have just entered the month of October but for some young people around Berkshire, thoughts have already turned to the spookiest time of the year, Halloween.

Explorers, Network members and adults from Bracknell, Binfield and Maidenhead adopted a safety-in-numbers approach for a visit to Europe’s biggest scare attraction, Tulley’s in Crawley earlier this month.

“Everyone screaming, total chaos” was the summary from adult volunteer Rob, who had first-hand experience of the ghoulish venue after working there for two seasons.

“I got to know the place and people a bit,” he said, “I saw what fun it would be for a trip for older Explorers and Network members. It is Halloween based and designed for numerous jump scares – always followed by tears of laughter.”

Boo!

With special access on ‘press night’, the group rubbed shoulders with the likes of soap actors Shane Richie and Shaun ‘Barry from Eastenders’ Williamson, as well as singer Rag ‘n’ Bone Man, with their scares proving that they are human after all!

Europe’s largest scare attraction boasts 12 mazes, several shows and roaming artists interacting with everyone, including scary clowns.

“It was a great experience for people who love to be scared,” said Explorer Jamie. “The actors were very good at scaring! I enjoyed the different mazes. The wasteland and the cellar were my favourite.”

Jack added: “I had a great time and it was a really good experience, especially being able to spend time with people outside the Scout hut. I would definitely recommend it!”

Rob’s final summary: “The Network and Explorer trip to Tulley’s was all in all a total success! So much fun! Horrible really, so the Explorers loved it!”
