There was plenty of room on the broom for over 30 Squirrels from Maidenhead District last weekend, as they gathered for a morning of activities themed around Julia Donaldson’s witch-tastic book
Hosted at 1st Cookham, Squirrels from five dreys across the district (1st Cookham, 1st Furze Platt, 19th Maidenhead, 21st Maidenhead, Bray and Holyport) were spellbound by an array of activities. Inspired by the characters from the story, they upcycled old DVDs into colourful birds, created frog pencil toppers, and made their own cat or dog mask.
Of course, the Squirrels needed their own lantern, and with a touch of Hocus Pocus made bubbling fizzing potions and tasted some rainbow drinks. With the wave of a wand, hey presto, Campfire Popcorn became Witchycorn (as shown in the picture below with Jamie and Sophia)!
When asked by his mother on the way home, Leo, age 5 (pictured above with his bird), declared the morning to have been “100 out of 10!”.
