World Scout Jamboree - Record application number!

Thank you to everyone who shared the information with our Scouts and Explorers and to the Scouts, Explorers and parents who have attended the roadshows and to everyone who applied!

The interest for meeting Scouts from other countries, exploring different cultures and learing about world Scouting is obviously at the forefront of what our Scouts are keen to experience. Going abroad with Scouting can take many forms and the Jamboree is just one of them.  We hope all of our applicants will get this chance, if not with the Jamboree this time, via international camps in the UK, attending a camp abroad with their group, taking part in Project Africa, going on an Explorer Belt or signing up for Roverway or the Moot in 2021.

Thank you for your interest.

Make. Do. Share. Focus on World activities!

One to keep! A supplement full of activities to explore and discover the world without leaving the hut!

Why not take a hike to show how far some children have to travel to collect safe water? Do this on the 13th May for Jamboree-on-the-trail for a thouroughly international scouting experience. Or add an international scavenger hunt, volcano making or indian food tasting to your programme.  There is even a B+W colouring page to help everyone be mindful and focussed about the world around us. Give it a go!

Send us photos and ideas of what you have been including in your programme to inspire others!

Easy to deliver badges, thanks to ready made resource packs!

The Scout Association have produced resource packs full of ideas, printable activities and even an achievement certificate to support leaders wanting to achieve Global and International badges in their programme. You can use these as inspiration, take one activity or run it as it is.
You can find the packs in our Badges and Award page, under the badge description for each section.

Nothing better than a British cuppa? Challenge yourself with these international variations!

We see ourselves as world expert consummers of tea and a badly made cuppa is such a disapointment. But there is much more to the world of tea than English Breakfast and PJtips.  Have a look at the choices of leaves and rituals in Japan, Morrocco and other countries on the Whittard Blog. Enough information to inspire a tea tasting programme and ceremonies! Invite us if you organise one!

Programme idea of the month

14th of June is World Blood Donor Day

Blood connects us all

Donating blood is a generous act which can save lives, young and old, here and everywhere. By raising awerness with our YPs, they have the power to convince adults to join and have information to make their own decision when they reach the age.

With videos and activities for young people, it is a programme idea which can see you get involved locally by making Thank You cards for donors, promoting a local donation with your group members and discussing blood borne diseases or finding your own blood type.

For many african scout groups blood donation, education on blood borne diseases and visiting hospital is part of the programme.
