![]() Here is a photo taken on 1st August 2006 on Brownsea Island - only 365 days to go to the Scouting Sunrise! 1st Easthampstead Scouts on their annual Troop camp in Dorset visited Brownsea Island on the 99th anniversary of the founding of the movement. It was a special moment for all and we decided that we should renew our Law and Promise at the site to complete the day. The monument and ground around it are currently under renovation as part of the preparations for 2007 - so we did not get to stand on the exact spot but we were there!. Contributed by Kelvin Taylor |

![]() It is not every summer camp that has Radio Berkshire's Maggie Philbin tasting your coffee. Berkshire Scouts featured on BBC Radio Berkshire's Breakfast Show with Andrew Peach last week. And on one morning, BBC Radio Berkshire's Maggie Philbin broadcast live from Bear's Rails Scout Camp at which 1st Cold Ash Scout Troop and 2nd Thatcham Scout Troop were having their summer camp. Maggie's broadcast included live 'wood sawing', 'bacon frying' and an inspection of the patrol tents (the girls' patrol tent was the tidiest). The morning was completed with a 'Scouts Own' with many of the Scouts taking part in an on-air 'blog' - a chance to say what they wanted without being prompted. Contributed by Pete Swynford |

They camped at Great Towers campsite with its great views and took in the normal Lake District activities, sailing, climbing, hiking and found time for a horror film cinema evening on their campsite and a stop at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The photo shows some of the Unit doing culture at the Castlerigg Stone Circle |
