Spain 2006 is a two week adventurous activities expedition for Explorer Scouts and Scout Network and their Adult Leaders to the spectacular mountainous area in Sort in the Spanish Pyrenees at the end of August. Check out the details here.

Report Back
Spain 2006 Report-back - Saturday 11th November 2006 at Emmbrook School Wokingham
We are holding a report back evening for families & friends and anyone else who would like to see and hear what we achieved at 7.30 for 8 pm in Emmbrook School, Emmbrook Road Wokingham RG41 1JP Map.
The presentation will include a slide show & video together with short illustrated reports from each of the Duke of Edinburgh award expedition teams plus a slightly longer one from the Explorer Belt team and will last about an hour in all.
Light refreshments will be available from 7.30 pm.

Return Flight Details
Everyone is back - the Van arrived safely back today (Friday) and unloading and kit pickup will take place at Wokingham Waterside Centre on Saturday 2 September 2.30pm

IB 4188 departed on time and has landed at London Heathrow. The group has cleared customs and arrived in Maidenhead

Wednesday 30 August Great Last Day
Bob Meldrum's final posting for the expedition reports that one group has been white water rafting with another group kayaking with some completing kayaking awards. The weather is good and we are all just sitting down now to their expedition meal. A great day has been had by all

Tuesday 29 August - EB Team return
Today the Explorer Belt Team have arrived back on site looking positive and cheerful after the major expedition around Spain.
Back at the expedition base camp one group has been kayaking on the national slalom course. Other activities today have included one group rock climbing and another group in Andorra.
Monday 28 August - 30 Go Canyoning
Today nearly 30 of the expedition have been canyoning. There has been a major water expedition through a gorge and reservoir about 20 miles south of the site. Another group have been mountain biking.
Sunday 27 August - Update on Explorer Belt Team

The Explorer Belt (EB) team are doing very well. They started in Barcelona and in the last six days they have managed to visit Valencia, Madrid (photo), Santander and Lleida and are now on their way walking back to the site in Sort.
Two groups have been out kayaking on the river today and two separate groups are walking in the hills. Some have been swimming in the river near the site.
Today saw the first bunch out horse riding they had a thoroughly enjoyable time. All OK

Friday 25 August - Showers but it is still all go
Today we very pleased to welcome back to the base camp the D of E Silver Expedition group who clearly had had a wonderful time. The team is very pleased on their performance. No sooner one group is back that another is out. This time is is the turn of the second D of E Expedition Group who are off walking. Today two kayaking groups have been out on the water and one walking group out in the hills. Everyone is ok.
Thursday 24 August - Great weather - a little cooler today
Today has been a little cooler so it has been particularly pleasant day, although spoilt by some heavy rain in the evening, but then we are in the Pyrenees! The first D of E Bronze Expedition Group back after a successful trip on the water. The Silver Award Expedition Group are camping overnight at a great campsite after two days in the mountains. Lots of us wet kayaking in the river today and others had a good time in Lleida, the regional town. John Cooper arrived today. All OK.
Wednesday 23 August Another great day
Bob Meldrum, Expedition Leader reports that everyone had another great day. The group which was staying overnight in the mountain hut had a fabulous time in the mountains whilst down on the water, the white water paddlers were enjoying the challenges the river presented. The first 2 D of E Expeditions are now underway and are progressing well. A heavy thunderstorm in the evening brought the first rain. All OK.

Tuesday 22 August its all go!
Today a large group is in Andorra as well as another group on the river and 2 in the hills. Another group has left for an overnight expedition. The weather is hot and sunny. Everyone OK. Check out the Andorra webcams here!
Monday 21 August Programme Underway
The programme started today with three groups in the hills and 1 group in kayaks on a nearby lake. All going well
Sunday 20 August Main Expedition Party Arrives in Sort
The convoy of 4 identical MPVs plus kit van arrived in Sort at 5.30pm. All OK.
Everyone has settled in for a full programme tomorrow.
Saturday 19 August Expedition Party Assembles
The main expedition party has assembled at Boyne Hill and Altwoods Scout HQ - next step Heathrow early in the morning
Friday 18 August Van Arrives
Our van arrived safe and sound at our campsite at 5 pm local time this afternoon after a good drive all the way across France and after a well deserved sleep our advance party will be getting things ready for the main party when it arrives on Sunday.
Thursday 17 August Van Departs
After all the planning, organising and training Spain 2006 is on its way. Last night (wednesday) we managed to fit all our kayaks, tents and heavy gear into the van. and it left Maidenhead for Spain at 6 pm this (thursday) evening. It was already ahead of schedule by the the time it reached Dover, catching an earlier ferry than planned giving it a head start for the long trip through France overnight & tomorrow.'
