took part in the Scout County Cooking Competition. There were two
categories, light weight and a formal meal. In the lightweight section 1st Thatcham (Taceham) came 1st, with 73rd
Reading (Reading Central) in second place and 7th Windsor (Windsor)
third.
The full results can be seen below. 1st 1st Twyford with 181 points 2nd 3rd Upton 172 points 3rd Pinkneys Green 170 points 4th 89th Reading - Team 1 153 points 5th 1st Thatcham and 7th Windsor Team-2 with 152 points 7th 1st Britwell 150 points 8th 73rd Reading 148 points 9th 7th Windsor Team-1 and 89th Reading - Team with 143 points 11th 2nd Bracknell with 139 points 12th 1st Hungerford with 133 points 1st Twyford and 3rd Upton will represent Berkshire at the Regional

thank you to all that made it possible. Winter Hill Walking Weekend in Snowdonia 26-27th January 2008
This event counts as a training event for
ALPS 2008 but is open to all
Explorers and Scouts over 13 in Berkshire. In addition there is a
limited number of places for leaders & instructors wanting to gain
experience or to be assessed for hillwalking permits. More information and contact details on the activities page

team from 1st Twyford Scouts emerged the winners at the the
Berkshire Scout Section County Cooking Competition for 2007 held at Emmbrook School, Wokingham. The team from 1st Cold Ash was
second and the team from 89th Reading was place third.
Congratulations to all the teams which took part and thanks to all
those who made it happen. This year there is a new style to the event which was in two
parts. Each team prepared a formal thee course meal of their
choice using the £15.00 budget. They also prepared a lightweight
meal using ingredients provided cooking on 1 trangier and 1 small 1
ring camping gaz stove. The County Patrol Leaders Forum was held on the 3rd June at Longridge
with Patrol Leaders representing Maidenhead, Reading Central, Slough
and South Berkshire districts. The day was kicked off with raft
building where the patrol leaders were mixed up to get to know each
other a little better. This was followed by a BBQ lunch that the
Scouts cooked for themselves. The Forum was held in the afternoon
and lasted for around 1.5 hours with the day finishing at 15.45. The
next County Patrol Leader forum will take place in October /
November this year. I would like to thank all of the adult help &
support on the day and to thank the Scouts that took part. We will
be building on this forum and the aim is to get all districts involved in the future.
Mark Thorton ACC(Scouts) The Scout Section South & South West Regions Cooking
Competition
took place in April at 15th Cheltenham’s HQ in Shurdington,
Gloucestershire. Berkshire was represented by Pinkneys Green (Maidenhead)
and 3rd
Upton (Slough). The judges commented as to the high quality of
the Both teams did extremely well with 3rd Upton Scouts taking
2nd place pictured above after receiving their award. Pinkneys Green
Scouts were placed 6th and are shown at the table with their
excellent meal. Congratulations to all involved and a
big thank you to the Scouts, Leaders, Helpers, and
Parents of both Pinkneys Green and 3rd Upton Scout Troops for doing

Berkshire Scout Section County Cooking Competition
The
main competition was very close with 1st Twyford (Loddon) winning for
the second year, 3rd Upton second (Slough) and Pinkneys Green
(Maidenhead) third. Snowdonia 2008
Experience
the mountains of Snowdonia with experienced and authorised leaders.
The 1st & 4th Wokingham Scouts have kindly agreed to open up their
Winter Hill Walking Weekend to the whole of the County.
