The Photo of the Year 2004 is the photo submitted by Mike Watts of 1st Sonning Scouts and shown in the week commencing 23 August 2004. It was a difficult process selecting one from so many high quality photos. Congratulations to Mike, a framed version and a citation will be presented to Mike and the Group. The judges also highly commended the photos published on 2 August 2004 from Peter Swynford and on 24 October from Oliver Hunter. Click here for the full 2004 archive. Thanks to everyone who submitted photos.
Guide to submitting a Photo of the Week
Please ensure the photograph represents the best of Scouting and complies with the advice for photos on a website on the Fact Sheet available here.
In terms of Photo of the Week - we try to keep a balance between the various sections and different parts of Berkshire but we would weight the following items more heavily. We would not expect every photo to cover every item.
* Quality of image * Young people in the image reflect the diversity of Scouting * Image shows young people doing Scouting - excellent action shots that show Scouting off as a modern, dynamic youth organisation. * Image reflects ‘We believe that through adventure we challenge individuals so that they learn and experience new things that enrich their lives.’ - depicting each of the different components of our identity: Adventure, Challenge, Enriching lives * Images which reflect our behaviour: Fun, Friendship, Confident, Inclusive and Trusted.
In general we prefer photos without adults but obviously there will be times when the adult is the focus.
For the photograph to have the widest use please supply the photo in the highest resolution you have available. The file format should be one of jpeg or tiff. Full details are available here
Please provide contact details for each photograph and provide a suitable caption and a credit for the photographer. If not part of the caption please give details of which colony, pack, troop or unit is involved.
We will try to make use of most photos either as photo of the week or in the Scouts in Action series or on sectional pages.
