This News from Berkshire Scouting contains two important items regarding the World Scout Jamboree in 2007.
By very popular demand, the deadline for applications from Scouts and Explorer Scouts to join the Berkshire Jamboree Units has been extended to 17 March 2006. more
This is your once in a lifetime opportunity to join a Unit that will learn, grow and work together over the next 2 years, ultimately attending the 21st World Scout Jamboree in the Summer of 2007.
Participants for the Berkshire Jamboree Units must be aged between 14 and 17 years old on 27 July 2007 - that is those born between 28 July 1989 and 27 July 1993 and involved in Berkshire Scouting. You can now apply to join the Berkshire Contingent. It's likely to be you if you are currently at school in years 8, 9, 10 or 11.
Places are limited and a selection weekend has been arranged to take place over 25/26 March 2006 at Bear's Rails in Old Windsor. more

The International Service Team or IST are the team of adults from all over the world that are key to the successful running of the Jamboree. The IST will be responsible for building the Jamboree village, ensuring that the on-site services are running smoothly, running activities and entertainments, and pretty much making sure the whole Jamboree runs smoothly!
Without the hard work and dedication of (it is estimated) up to 8,000 IST members, the Jamboree would not function. The IST have to work hard, but the reward is second-to-none. Being part of the centenary Jamboree and supporting participants from over 200 countries is something not to be missed.
They are the key conduit between the core team of organisers and the participants that are responsible for actually making the Jamboree come to life! There are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of different jobs available for IST. A small selection includes: climbing instructors, sales assistants, telephone operators, plumbers, backstage crew, performers, nurses, cleaners, water activity instructors, catering staff - the list is endless. There are jobs that suit every level of experience and expertise in nearly every field imaginable!
If you would like to register your interest in becoming an IST member, then fill in the brief form available here
You will probably have some questions and many of them will be answered in the Frequently Asked Questions including the cost.
New opportunities to join the Jamboree Organising Team for the 21st World Scout Jamboree have now been posted at the Jamboree staff site and opportunities will continue to be posted throughout the first six months of 2006. All the details here.
Roles that support all the areas of the Organisation: Contingents, IST, Sub Camps, Guests, Transport, Site Build and Operations, Food and Trading, ICT, Health and Welfare, Ceremonies and Programme will be posted in due course.
Home Hospitality (HoHo) A fantastic opportunity to bring the magic of world Scouting to every corner of the UK! It is anticipated that over 8,000 Scouts who will be attending the Jamboree will also want to experience ‘typical British life’ by staying in local communities all over the UK. Whatever your age, hosting Scouts from other countries will help bring the international nature of Scouting to everyone – especially those unable to attend the Jamboree. Most HoHo will only last 3 days and there will be opportunities both before the Jamboree or directly after it. Some Scouts will want to stay together as a Unit whilst others will want to stay as pairs in homes. We are looking for families, Scout Groups, campsite and other venues to house the Scouts and their Leaders. Find out more: Contact Agent 2:007 Sue Clarkson international@berkshirescouts.org.uk
Day Visitors And if you just want to come along and sample the atmosphere there will be opportunities to come and visit the Jamboree site at Hylands Park. With a group, family, friends or alone there will be lots of things to do and see. There will be thousands of Day Visitor tickets available on the main programme days (29th – 31st July and 2nd – 6th August inclusive) but not for the ceremonies or 1st August. As a Day Visitor you will be able to take part in a range of different activities, take a tour of the site and watch a special show in the main arena. Find out more: Prices and dates are hoped to be available from July 2006. Details will be updated on www.thejamboree.org/dayvisitors
