Safety in Scouting - Fire Safety

The Safety in Scouting Team in Berkshire provide a valuable resource for Group Scout Leaders, Group Chairs and others responsible for ensuring the safety of the meeting place in their Group. Contact details are provided on the Safety in Scouting pages.

As all are aware from the present advertising campaign in the national and local media, changes to fire safety legislation are due to come into force in October this year. The aim of the reform is to simplify, rationalise and consolidate existing legislation. It will provide for a risk based approach to fire safety. The main effect of the changes will be a move towards greater emphasis on fire prevention in all non-domestic premises. Fire Certificates will be abolished and will cease to have legal status. more

Patrol Challenge Weekend - signup now

The Berkshire Patrol Camping Challenge will take place over the weekend  30th September 2006 to 1st October 2006.  The County Flag is a camping challenge for patrols of six scouts held over two days. It is a lot more than just a camping competition as the weekend will also include a number of different activities. The weekend will allow the participating patrols to work together as a team putting into practice a large number of the Scouting skills that they have learned as well as picking up some new skills.  more
