The photo selected this week - Taking the challenge - one of the many teams of Scouts at the Mount Challenge weekend preparing their evening meal more
The Mount Challenge for 2006 held over the weekend 20/21 May attracted 42 teams of Scouts from across Berkshire. The teams camped overnight in lightweight style and faced a variety of challenges including cooking for themselves, team and individual activities, finding their way through the woods of West Berkshire and keeping dry! There were many opportunities to gain points and at the final tally Team 17 of Tom Seward and Jonathan Snelling from 1st Cold Ash came out in first place by just one point. In second place was Team 8 of Ben Wolstenholme and Chris Mower from 1st Woolhampton and in third place Team 25 of Luke Christmas and Harry Mayne from 1st Binfield. 11 Teams in total received the Gold Award, 13 teams received the Silver Award and 18 teams the Bronze Award.
Congratulations to all the teams for taking the Mount Challenge, rain and all. Many thanks to Jeff Howman, Alan Wade and all the volunteers from far and wide who delivered a fabulous weekend. more
