Scouts and Explorer Scouts can enjoy international camps and events in a number of ways: in a stand alone camp or at an International Camp such as WINGS2009, as part of an event organised by a National Scout Fellowship (for example, our Uganda programme), by taking part in a large event abroad organised by one of the National Scout Organisations (for example, the Australian National Jamboree) and as members of specially selected UK Contingents to World and Regional events. The International Office produces International Opportunities every month and this provides information on all events. June International Opportunities
Dr. Eduardo Missoni, Secretary General of World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) will speak at a ceremony here in Geneva on Monday afternoon, and appeal for an end to child labour. The World Day Against Child Labour is designed to highlight the International Labour Organisation's (ILO) global campaign, which, through the partnership with World Scouting and FIFA, has reached millions of people around the world since its launch in 2002. At the upcoming World Scout Jamboree in the UK, ILO will be participating in the Global Development activities. The educational method on which Scouting is based, is aimed at enabling young people to discover how they can actively take part in community life, focusing on the following issues: human rights, environment, health and peace. more
Do you know someone who went to the 1957 World Scout Jamboree? This was the last occasion the UK hosted the Jamboree. Did you go? Did your parents go? Did your grand-parents go? The Scout Association is running a Reunion for participants at the 9th World Scout Jamboree in 1957 which was held in the UK. The Reunion consists of a 3 day package including meals, accommodation and a visit to the 2007 Jamboree. more

It's up to the public to decide to which charity the money should be given. Currently the Scout Association has just over 20% of the nominations a few hundred votes behind Girlguiding UK. Your vote could make all the difference. Nominate today at www.howtogivetocharity.org more

The World Cop for Football has kicked off, it is seen as a big event but it only has 736 participants, although there seem quite a lot of staff! I expect that many of the 2007 Celebration District Camps next year will have more participants and if you move on to WINGS, Eurojam and the World Scout Jamboree there just is no comparison. Scouting is a big World-wide organisation with hundreds of thousands of local units. There are about 350 sections/units in Berkshire and every night this week there will be more young people across Berkshire involved in the international adventure of Scouting than there are players in the 2006 World Cup.
Don't forget to snap those magic Scouting moments and send them in to photo@berkshirescouts.org.uk.
