This week - Berkshire Scouts Annual Meeting

Berkshire Scouts is pleased to invite you to the Annual Meeting of Berkshire Scouts on Thursday 6 July at Easthampstead Park Conference Centre at 7.30pm for 8pm.

This is great opportunity for EVERYONE connected with Scouting in Berkshire to catch up with what has gone on, to hear about the great activities and achievements over the past year, what is going on now, and what will happening in 2007. It is real opportunity to recharge our personal batteries for the year ahead and generally meet everyone!!

Plus a chance to see the Photos of The Year selected by Chris Foster, Media Officer for the Scout Association.

A location map for Easthampstead Conference Centre is available here and more details of the meeting.

We do hope that you will be able to join everyone on Thursday to celebrate the fabulous adventure of Scouting in Berkshire.

Jamboree Unit Summer Training Camp

Berkshire Scouts Jamboree Units' first training camp took place at Youlbury under scorching summer sunshine at the weekend and was deemed all round as a great success.  Camping within the large wooded forest area, the two Units built and pioneered gateways and towers, took shot at archery, made a splash in the pool, explored the woods with orienteering, creatively designed and made their own tie-dye neckers, undertook a handful of challenge bases and watched the England football game on a big screen. During the weekend, the two Berkshire Units operated as separate Units for the first time, albeit on opposite sides of the path. This provided a great opportunity for each Unit to establish its own identity - the two Units have adopted their names "Blue Troop" and "Purple Troop".  more

Scout Section Camping Challenge Weekend

The Berkshire Patrol Camping Challenge will take place over the weekend  30th September 2006 to 1st October 2006.

The County Flag is a camping challenge for patrols of six scouts held over two days. It is a lot more than just a camping competition as the weekend will also include a number of different activities. The weekend will allow the participating patrols to work together as a team putting into practice a large number of the Scouting skills that they have learned as well as picking up some new skills.  Check out the Scout pages for all the info including an information pack to download.

Change in Training and Support Dates

A couple of changes in the Training and Support Diary with the Module 3b in the East Area moving from 19 July to 12 July - note the Module 3b in the West Area remains on July 19 and the Validation Session on 11 August moves to the 11 September - also in the East Area.

Workshop for Wannabe Media Development Managers

There will be a Media Development Managers Workshop on Sunday 17th September at Gilwell Park. This one-day workshop is for Media Development Managers and those thinking about becoming Media Development Managers. The day will help those who attend to 'positively package' Scouting and get Scouting noticed by local print and broadcast media. The day is filled with practical tips on media related work.  If you are interested in attending please contact Hamish Stout.

A simple on-line form provides a straightforward way for you to contribute to the review. For your comments to have the maximum value please send them as soon as possible and in any event by 10 July 2006 - why not do it now? more
