Opportunity to help support Adults in Scouting

Do you enjoy interacting with other people and have access to computer ? Or do you know someone who does? There is an opportunity for a County Appointments secretary/County Record Administrator from 31 March 2006. The role involves processing appointments for members of the County Team (eg Deputy DCs, DCs, ACCs, etc) by obtaining references where required, arranging interviews and liaising with the County Training Administrator.  The role also involves maintaining the County Record for all Commissioner appointments in Berkshire and providing regular reminders to DCs, Deputy CCs and the CC regarding Warrant reviews and renewals. However, you don't need to invent all this as the the administration procedures and the  County Record is already setup. It will just be a matter of taking these over from the current post holder.

There is no requirement to have a background in Scouting and it may well suit and someone who does not wish to take out a warranted position.   Anyone interested in taking on this important role as Assistant County Secretary is asked to contact Tony Fulford (County Secretary) or Douglas Rae (Chair of the County Appointments Subcommittee). more

SNet Activity Day

April 22 is the date for a special SNet activity which is open to all 17 (ie: older Explorer Scouts) to 25 year old members of The Scout Association. For example, Leaders, Instructors, Helpers, etc. We would very much like the opportunity to share the potential of the SNet with everyone eligible for membership. Needless to say, the day is also open to non-members of TSA. There's no commitment to registering for the SNet on the activity day! We simply want to have folk join us in Kent to have a good time, learn about the SNet and possibly help shape its future. It could be the best £17.50 (which includes free transport) you have ever spent. Check out the diggers and other activities here

The Scout Network web site is undergoing a restyling and will be unavailable other than the front page for the next couple of weeks. If you need any information contact the Network on action@bcsn.org.uk

Charity Trustees are responsible for controlling the management and administration of a charity. Within each Scout Group and District the Executive Committee Officers and Members are Trustees.  The Charity Commission have produced a booklet with very clear and helpful advice on the responsibilities of a Trustee and this is available on on–line using this link.   Paper copies are available from the Charity Commission and contact information is available in the ResourceBase. Trustees will also find the Safety in Scouting Team a valuable resource in maintaining a safe environment for their Group or Unit.
