Berkshire Scouts featured on BBC Radio Berkshire's Breakfast Show with Andrew Peach last week. Their daily "Generation Game" picked the brains of a Scout versus a Leader on each day during the week answering questions to score points. By the end of the week, the scores were 4 wins to the Scouts and just 1 win to the Scout Leaders!
On one morning, BBC Radio Berkshire's Maggie Philbin broadcast live from Bear's Rails Scout Camp at which 1st Cold Ash Scout Troop and 2nd Thatcham Scout Troop were having their summer camp. Maggie's broadcast included live 'wood sawing', 'bacon frying' and an inspection of the patrol tents (the girls' patrol tent was the tidiest). Amongst the Scouts camping were Rebecca and Tom who are also members of the Berkshire Scouts Contingent to the World Scout Jamboree in 2007. Rebecca and Tom told Maggie Philbin all about their adventures so far and about the Jamboree itself and the 40,000 Scouts who will be there from over 200 Countries. more
News from Berkshire Scouting will now be published on Wednesdays rather than Sundays. This will allows the news and photographs from the weekend activities to be incorporated without delay rather than waiting for the newsletter on the following weekend. It will remain a great help for other items to arrive well in advance of the publication day and realistically news received on a Monday will be incorporated but later non-urgent news will probably not be.
Summer Camps on the Berkshire Scouts Website celebrates the adventure of Scouting that is camping. Send in your photos and stories and share the challenges and the fun with everyone. Summer Camp reports in so far include
Coming next week will be a compilation of the parties and celebrations held in the summer to mark the 20th Birthday of Beaver Scouts and the 90th Birthday of Cub Scouts - if you had a party - why not send in your photos and story to make the best compilation ever.

The All New Apex Extreme will take place on Friday 13th through to Sunday 15th October 2006 in the Peak District, Derbyshire. The Apex Extreme is a brand new format of event which is spread across an entire weekend. It couples together all the familiar bits from previous Overnight and Daytime Challenges but adds in some new ways to both gain and lose those all important Apex Points. It will be physically and mentally demanding but also a great experience. With more adventure challenges than ever before, this is certainly one you won't want to miss.
Who can take part? The event is open to all Explorer Scouts and Scout Network members from anywhere in the UK. Entry is in teams of four, and in October we expect more than 200 competitors. Two competitions for the two age groups run side by side with prizes for the top three teams in each category. more
