County Scout Network Commissioner

Kevin Birchmore is stepping down as ACC(Explorer Scouts) with effect from 15th April. On behalf of all of us, I want to thank Kevin for the tremendous leadership he has given to the formation and establishment of Explorer Scouting across the County over the past several years.

Also with effect from April 15th, I am delighted to be able to inform you that Kevin will take on the role of County Scout Network Commissioner. There is much to do to build on the work thus far in creating Scout Network so that we can realise the true potential of this – still fledging – Section. I am sure that we all wish Kevin well in leading next stage of this work, and that he can rely on the support of all of us.  Hamish Stout, County Commissioner

Assistant County Commissioner for Explorer Scouts

I am really pleased to be able to advise that with effect from 1st May, the role of ACC(Explorer Scouts) will be taken on by Mark Elliott who is currently District Explorer Scout Commissioner in Loddon District. Mark has made a great contribution to the development of Explorer Scouts in Loddon, and he is ideally placed to support the development of the Explorer Scout Section across the County to reach even greater heights! Hamish Stout, County Commissioner

Two weeks to Dig the Dirt

It is now only two weeks to go to the Dig the Dirt day (22nd April) for all 17 to 25 year olds across Berkshire. Are all the 17-25 year olds in your Group, Unit or District signed up for this fabulous day out?  This is  a day not to miss with great activities at Diggerland  a unique adventure park where you get to drive real diggers and so much more and at the Ski Centre on the longest toboggan run in the UK. The day will also contain a SNet Forum and AGM.  Contact Sue Clarkson for the all the info international@berkshirescouts.org.uk more

Module 36 - Special Needs

This module is particularly appropriate to those who support section leaders, for example Group Scout Leaders and sectional Assistant District Commissioners. The module is open to all as part of your training programme or your on-going training. The module will be held on Sunday 30 April 2006 9.30am with a finish by 1.15pm at  79th Reading Headquarters off Armour Hill Tilehurst, Reading.  This Module looks at defining the Scout Association’s policy regarding its members who have Special Needs and outlines the procedures and good practices towards those members. It also gives guidance on appreciating how someone with Special Needs may impact on a Section or a Group and what resources are available to help with this.  Adult Training Module 36 Special Needs click here to book
