Spice of Life — Performing Arts Workshop

The National Activities Team are holding an exciting Performing Arts Workshop in December 2005, aimed at Adults in Scouting who would like to develop performance activities in their Areas/Counties or Districts/Groups. This will cover activities that can be run in small workshops at local level as well as group shows.  Participants don't need to be experts in the performing arts although organising skills are needed to offer similar workshops in your County/Area for both young people and leaders. The event takes place at the UCL Bloomsbury Studio in Central London on Saturday 3rd December and will feature activity try-out sessions as well as giving practical advice to broaden the provision of performance-related activities for young people. Another great night out - Full Mounty  with Alan Hinkes

Following his record breaking summit of Kangchenjunga and becoming the first Briton to have stood on all of the world's highest peaks, the UK's leading mountaineer Alan Hinkes is bringing you his Full Mounty tour to talk about the highs and lows of his record breaking climb.  Challenge 8000 is Hinkes' successful summiting of all 14 of the world's highest mountains, the first of which, Shisha Pangma, he climbed in 1987. Over the past 18 years the resourceful Hinkes has sustained numerous broken limbs as well as a prolapsed disc and in some cases he has had to return to a mountain several times before conquering it. In this lecture he recounts his challenges and achievements with the aid of slides and video footage. Catch the lecture in Reading on 21 November - contact Cotswold Reading on 0118 987 5177 for tickets at £10 each . more
