The Lions Club of Maidenhead has awarded Silver Young Achiever Awards to Jonathan Harris and Robert Pickett of the Dragon Explorer Scout Unit for their work with the Furze Platt Beaver Scout Colony. The Annual Lions Club Young Achiever Awards are to acknowledge the contribution made by young people aged 12 to 18 to the community. The award ceremony was held at Maidenhead Golf Club and attended by the award winners and their proposers together with parents and friends.
The 48th Jamboree on the Air takes place over the weekend 15-16 October 2005. JOTA is an annual event in which about 500,000 Scouts all over the world make contact with each other by means of amateur radio. It is a real Jamboree during which Scouting experiences are exchanged and ideas are shared, thus contributing to the world nature of Scouting. JOTA will be taking part throughout the world so this is a great opportunity for an international experience. more
The Jamboree on the Internet (JOTI) takes place over the weekend 15-16 October 2005. If you can organise internet access you can take part. JOTI is an annual event when Scouts make contact with each other by means of the Internet and this means all over the world. It is a great Jamboree experience during which you can exchange ideas and experiences are shared. JOTI is a world-wide event mainly for Scouting groups in all youth programme sections, although members may participate individually.
JOTI is officially open 48 hours, from Saturday 00.00h until Sunday 24.00h local time. JOTI is held at the same time as the Jamboree on the Air - see above. All you need is internet access - you can make contact via web browser, email or a chat room (IRC) - all is freely available. It is a great international experience. more
The countdown to the 21st World Jamboree in 2007 has begun. There are three information evenings for Adult Volunteers who are interested in being part of the Berkshire Jamboree Leadership team? Any adult actively involved in Scouting anywhere in Berkshire is eligible to apply. If you are interested go for it. Click here the dates.
The Reading University Guide and Scout Club (RUGS) stand at the Freshers Fayre was busy with students signing up their interest for this new Club. Pete Jeffries, the Club President for 2005-2006, said "we had over seventy show interest and we have our first meeting next week". See the RUGS pages on the Network website .
The final presentation evenings for Cub Scouts and Scouts who have recently gained the Chief Scouts Silver Award will be held across Berkshire on 7 October (Central Area) Reading more. Checkout the details in the Diary
