Learning Disability Week 20-26 June

1.5 million people in the UK have a learning disability. They find it harder than others to learn, understand and communicate and they have this disability for their entire life.  Learning Disability Week wants to raise awareness of what it means to have a learning disability. We also want to show how, given the right support and opportunities, people with a learning disability can broaden their horizons and achieve a lot in life. more

New Field Development Officer for Berkshire

It is a big welcome to Karen Waddington who is the new Field Development Officer for the area which includes Berkshire.  And a big thank you to Neil Addington who has been standing in as the Field Development Officer for Berkshire as well as an equivalent role in other areas. more

Thatcham Mayor thanks Scouting for the Great Preparation for his Civic Role

The Mayor of Thatcham Phil Dray, Guest of Honour at the The Annual General Meeting of Taceham Hundred District Scout Council, congratulated the Adult Volunteers in the District on their work with young people in the area over the last year. more

Reading Scout Volunteer notches up 80 years of service

Reading Central District Scouts celebrated 80 years of service from Harry Beckett to Scouting in Reading with a presentation of a Certificate of Merit at their Annual General Meeting held at the Wokingham Waterside Centre on Wednesday. more

Derek Twine thanks Windsor and Eton

Derek Twine, Chief Executive of The Scout Association, was guest speaker at the recent Windsor & Eton District Scout Council Annual General Meeting which was also attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Windsor. Derek thanked Windsor and Eton District for their year on year contributions to the success of the National St Georges Service at Windsor Castle. more

New entries in the ResourceBase

The Berkshire Scouts ResourceBase has several new entries including Goodwill Gallery – free goods, services and volunteers a website which provides links to people and organisation who will offer their services or goods free to charities such as the Scouts and the Whitbread Young Achiever Awards for 16 to 25 year olds. more

Administrators Workshop

An Administrators Workshop will take place on Saturday 9 July in Wokingham. All who hold the post of Chairman, Secretary or Treasurer in Groups and Districts are invited to participate. There is no charge for the workshop. more

County AGM

Berkshire Scouts County AGM will be held on 7 July 2005 at the Long Gallery, Englefield House, Englefield, Nr Theale RG7 5EN. The meeting is 7.30pm for 8.00pm.  Location details are available at the Englefield House website
