The photo selected this week shows  Yoda Six at the 5th Woodley ‘Hornet’ Cubs Camp at Paddicks Patch - this was the first camp for ACSL Roy Binden alias Shere Khan who ran the camp along the Star Wars theme as part of his Adult Training Programme - congratulations to Roy for hugely successful weekend.

Cub Scouts raise over £350 for Bulangira Disables’ Association in Uganda

2nd Bracknell Cubs ran the sponsored orienteering competition for South East Berks district and raised loads of money for their chosen charity in Africa. more

All welcome at Scout Network Kayaking Evening

The County Scout Network kayaking evening is coming up fast. This will be held at Wokingham Waterside Centre in Reading. Kick-off  or should that be paddle-off is 7pm sharp. You will need clothing to get wet in and some spare clothes for afterwards.     Everyone is welcome whatever their kayaking ability. The cost will be between 3 and 5 pounds. Please confirm your booking so that we can arrange enough instructors by emailing Mark as m.ashworth@blueyonder.co.uk by Thursday 16th June.

Administrators Workshop

An Administrators Workshop will take place on Saturday 9 July in Wokingham. All who hold the post of Chairman, Secretary or Treasurer in Groups and Districts are invited to participate. There is no charge for the workshop. more

Beaver Fun Day Badge Competition

Reading Central District have run a competition for their  Beaver Scout Fun Day Badge. The competition was won by a Beaver Scout from 3rd Reading Wild Wood Colony. more

New entries in Scouts in Action

New entries in Scouts in Action involve Newbury Scouts on the Wayfarers Walk, the South East Berkshire District Orienteering Day and the 1st Emmbrook Cubs sleepover on HMS Belfast.

South Berkshire Launches District Plan

At the recent Annual General Meeting of the South Berkshire Scout District, Peter Forbes, the District Commissioner launched a District Plan to develop and support Scouting across the District. more

Highly Successful Year for Loddon

Geoff Barnes (DC) and Donald MacDonald (Chair) reported on their first full year of being in office to support Scouting in Loddon District. It had been a very successful year.  The Nights Away Permit Scheme was now well in place; a new District Directory published; new appointments included: Booking Secretary for Paddicks Patch and Badge Secretary. An Explorer Scout Young Leader Unit had been formed and Young Leader training also started during the year. The District had also implemented a new Adult Appointment Review process. more

Over 115 years of volunteering celebrated in Kennet 

Nigel Sayers, the District Commissioner for Kennet District presented Long Service Awards to four adult volunteers who have amassed more than 115 years of volunteering between them at the AGM for the District. more

County AGM

Berkshire Scouts County AGM will be held on 7 July 2005 at the Long Gallery, Englefield House, Englefield, Nr Theale RG7 5EN. The meeting is 7.30pm for 8.00pm.  Location details are available at the Englefield House website
