The photo selected this week shows Reading Central Explorer Scouts (The Penguins) after scaling Seniors Ridge on Glyder Fawr in Snowdonia.
The Summer Expedition pages set out to capture some of the magic and adventure of the numerous and varied summer expeditions by Scout Troops and Explorer Scout Units from across Berkshire. A big thank you to all who have submitted the photos - keep them coming in to photo@berkshirescouts.org.uk. There are photos from Reading Central Explorer Scouts, 3rd Newbury Scouts, Pinkneys Green Scouts, 1st Langley Scouts, Slough District Scouts and East Reading Explorer Scouts
The Explorer Belt 2005 is a County-wide activity based in Slovenia in August 2005 coordinated by Kevin Birchmore - participants are working to gain the Explorer Belt. Building on the successes of last year, we have two teams out travelling the country and experiencing the culture - as part of being out and independent for 10 days, they have to complete a major project and ten minor projects (ranging from translating a Slovenian news paper to ringing the bell at the church on Bled island). Both teams have now departed and started their adventure. Check here for the latest updates on their adventures.
The Stonker is back as a joint Explorer Scout and Scout Network weekend 25th to 27th November 2005. It is based at Warmwell Holiday Park in Weymouth. There will loads of activities including skiing, snow boarding, swimming, mountain biking and indoor games (last date for booking - 15th September). Click here for more information.
The OurWay pages provide an opportunity for Adult Volunteers to share information and procedure. The item on free answerphone services has been expanded by a contribution from Danny Scroggins of 3rd Newbury - thanks Danny. Send in your ideas, programmes or procedures to share with the other hundreds of Adult Volunteers across Berkshire to ourway@berkshirescouts.org.uk
If you are off to University this autumn (or you know someone who is) why not make contact with your local Scout Network (check out which Scout County it is in here) or SSAGO Club. Local contacts for Scout Network can be found here.
If you are off to the University of Reading then take a look at The Reading University Guide and Scout Club.
If you are off to the Berkshire College of Agriculture, Reading College of Arts and Technology, Thames Valley University, or University of Reading then you are already to welcomed by the Berkshire County Scout Network.
