The Mount Challenge - Your Tent

The Mount Challenge is a based lightweight camping and you should bring a two or three man tent.

If you normally camp in patrol tents you will want to make sure that you know how to put it up and take in down and pack it away at the end of the weekend. These sorts of tents are all different and all have a particular trick to putting up easily.

  • Make sure you have tent!
  • Make sure you are familiar with the tent and putting it up and packing it away
  • Check that it is all there including poles, guys and pegs.
  • Make sure you have the right number of pegs.
  • If in doubt put in up before the weekend.
  • Most hike tents have thin groundsheets and you may want to use a plastic sheet underneath the tent to lengthen its life. For example stones or broken plant stems make pierce a very thin groundsheet
  • You will probably have some storage area under the flysheet at the front and maybe the back of the tent. Get hold of a small plastic sheet which you use like a groundsheet to keep your cooking kit and other items on and so make more room in your tent. The sheet will also be useful to sit on, particularly if it rains!
