The Mount Challenge - Camping

You must be completely self-contained in terms of equipment for the complete weekend of lightweight camping. Ideally you will be able to carry it all in your rucsac.

Water, rubbish disposal, toilets and washing facilities will be the only facilities available at the campsite. You will be provided with food for all meals other than Saturday lunch; you should bring a packed lunch complete with drink.

You should ensure that you have adequate cooking facilities; open fires are not permitted and refills of gas, methylated spirits or other fuel will not be available at the campsite. You will need to prepare and cook the evening meal on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. The menu is designed for lightweight camping so that it can be prepared using a single burner unit, such as a Trangia, Primus pressure stove, or Camping Gaz stove together with a cooking pot, a frying pan and a small kettle or other pot to boil water. Such items are supplied with a Trangia stove or are parts of a Gilwell canteen. In case you are worried by its absence above, the Mount Challenge Team will provide Sunday lunch.
