Lower Earley Beaver Scout Taster and Information Evening
The Project team are running a Beaver Scout Taster and Information Evening for parents and their children aged between 5.5 and 7.5 years old on 7 October. There will be an opportunity to find out more about Scouting and beaver Scouts and for the young people a chance to try out some Beaver Scout activities.

Building Opportunities for Young People through Scouting in Lower Earley
In June 2008. Loddon District Scouts launched a major initiative to build new opportunities for young people in Lower Earley through Scouting.
The
first phase is working with Community Groups, the local Schools, the
local Council and other agencies to develop the best framework to
provide challenges, adventure, fun and friendship for the young people
in Lower Earley.
Working closely with these groups will be Harriet Riley, a recently appointed full-time Local Development Officer for Berkshire Scouts. Harriet said “I am looking forward to working on this exciting project to bring Scouting to an area which jam packed full of young people. It is a great opportunity to help young people take action to help themselves and make a difference”.
The Local Coordinator for the Project is Robin Phillips who will be working with Harriet and Adult Volunteers from the Berkshire Scouts County Development Forum and the local area.
Geoff Barnes who leads Scouting in the Earley/Woodley area said “We are looking to find out what young people and their parents want from Scouting in the Lower Earley Area. We have some great opportunities for young people in the areas surrounding Lower Earley and we want to bring those opportunities to the heart of Lower Earley and show the community what Scouting has to offer for young people aged 6 to 25”.

Earley Fun Day

The Lower Earley Project team were out in force at the recent Earley Fun Day. The photos show some of the activities on offer including crafts and the giant Connect 4. There was a great response to the news of the development of a Scouting provision in Lower Earley later this year and many families signed up to here more and to contribute to the great adventure.
The rain showers did little to dampen enthusiasm and the display area was even more popular when the showers came! |
