Special Events

Berkshire Scouts has a long and proud reputation for offering high-quality international opportunities to young people aged 6 to 25 to enrich their scouting experiences.

One way which this enrichment is offered is through a series of special events, ranging from foreign expeditions to large international camps within Berkshire attended by young people from over 30 countries.

More information about a range of upcoming special events can be found by clicking on the appropriate heading on the left hand side.

In addition to the major events for which there are special pages there are a host of smaller events.  Those coming up shartly are:

Dragon Boat Regatta - 13th of June

This is a team building event for all those who fancy an afternoon of fun on the water.  Wokingham Waterside Centre is organising a dragon boat regatta for Berkshire Scouts on the afternoon of Sunday the 13th of June.  You do not need any previous experience or equipment as the Centre will provide not only the boats and paddles (and drums!) but also the buoyancy aids and, if you need them, instruction and an experienced qualified helm for each boat.

All you need to do is assemble a team of 11 (10 paddlers and a drummer) Cubs, Scouts, Explorers or Scout Network/Leaders, pay the fee (£15 per team), and get them to Wokingham Waterside Centre which is on the Thames at the Reading end of the A329 for a 2 pm start. While crews rarely fall into the water, they often get splashed so everyone will need a change of clothing and a towel and something warm to put on if they get cold together with sun protection and a drink.  You will also need to provide a leader or two to supervise the team when it is not on the water.  We will finish betwwen 4 & 5 pm depending on the weather and how many teams enter.

To apply please contact the the Activities team for an application form.  Closing date  - 4th June

Stop Press - Refreshments - Our Jamboree Contingent will be providing  refreshments during the afternoon.  All proceeds from the refreshment sales will go towards the Contingent's fundraising efforts.
