Queen Scout Award for Kylie

Kylie Brown was presented with the Queen Scout Award by Hamish Stout, County Commissioner at the Maidenhead District Annual Meeting.  Kylie had undertaken a wide variety of activities to gain this top award for young people in Scouting. She had carried an extensive service element at Furze Platt Cub Scouts where she is currently an Assistant Cub Scout Leader.  She had served as Finance Director for a Young Enterprise Company,  researched the underlying values of genetic engineering research, participated in WINGS and undertaken an extended expedition to the Lake District. At one point in the expedition, the group had to come off the mountains as the driving wind was 'literally blowing us over'.

Adults in Maidenhead

There are many opportunities for adults to enjoy and support Scouting. Working directly with young people in the Sections includes being a Leader; an Assistant Leader; Colony, Pack or Troop Assistant and so on.

The are also opportunities to help at Group level and in the District in 'management' roles. Tasks at these levels include finance; administration; fund-raising; taking care of equipment; and so on.

Adults in Scouting have fun and are well supported with training and through District and County programme teams.

For further details on how to support Scouting in this District you should contact the Maidenhead Commissioner or follow these links
