Methods Available in the Adult Training Programme
The Adult Training Programme is based on flexibility. There are a variety of delivery methods available for nearly all modules. The methods possible for each module are listed on the fact sheets available for each module. You will be provided with an information pack which provides all of the information as part of the initial appointment process. A description of the various methods follows below.
Courses
For many participating in a course lasting a few hours will be the most popular not least since you will meet other Adults in similar or related roles to your own. Most people find the networking element of such courses a very attractive and valuable feature.
Video
Some modules are available through a standard video cassette. Your Local Training Manager will be able to discuss this option with you as you develop your Personal Learning Plan. For those modules for which videos are available, the video will be loaned through the Local Training Manager. Module 1 - Essential Information is an example of a module available as a video.
E-Learning
Some modules are available through e-learning methods. Your Local Training Manager will be able to discuss this option with you as you develop your Personal Learning Plan. Eventually these will be available via the web, but at present for those modules for which e-learning is available, the CD-ROM will be loaned through the Local Training Manager. Your Local Training Manager may be able to arrange access to a computer where required. Module 1 - Essential Information is an example of a module available as e-learning.
Workbook

Some modules are available through a workbook. Your Local Training Manager will be able to discuss this option with you as you develop your Personal Learning Plan. For those modules for which workbook are available, the workbook will be provided through the Local Training Manager. Module 2 - Personal Learning Plan is an example of a module available as a workbook.
One-to-One
Some modules are available through an one-to-one session. Your Local Training Manager will be able to discuss this option with you as you develop your Personal Learning Plan. For those modules for which this approach is available , the session will be organised through the Local Training Manager. Module 3 - Tools for the Job is an example of a module available as a one-to-one session. The one-to-one provides particular flexibility for those Adults whose work or home committments prevents participation in small group sessions or courses.
Small Groups
Some modules are available through small groups discussion. Your Local Training Manager will be able to discuss this option with you as you develop your Personal Learning Plan. For those modules which are available in this manner, the small group will be provided through the Local Training Manager. Module 4 - Tools for the Job is an example of a module available as a small group session.
Factsheet
Some modules are available through a factsheet. Your Local Training Manager will be able to discuss this option with you as you develop your Personal Learning Plan. For those modules for which fact sheets are available, the factsheet will be provided through the Local Training Manager. Module 6 - Changes in Scouting is an example of a module available as a fact sheet
External Qualification
Some modules can be covered by gaining an external qualification. Your Local Training Manager will be able to discuss this option with you as you develop your Personal Learning Plan. For those modules which are available in the manner, you should discuss your proposals with the Local Training Manager as some "external" courses may be available as part of the County Training Programme. Module 10 First Aid is only available by this route.
Validation
For each module you have selected as part of your Personal Learning Programme you will need to validate your skills. This validation process can be performed using a variety of procedures and these are described in the fact sheets available for each module.
