Scouting's Centenary

front.jpgIn 2007 Scouting marked its centenary - with World Celebrations , National Celebrations , and the 21st World Scout Jamboree in the United Kingdom, where Scouting was founded one hundred years ago. Find out more about the achievements of the past 100 years in an overview of Scouting’s history.

The year-long Scouting celebrations around the world during 2007 inspired 28 million Scouts for peace.

 

 

National and International Celebrations

There was a year long Join-in-Centenary Programme in the UK and a fabulous array of events up and down the country. In August, the UK joined in with the World-wide Scouting's Sunrise and Berkshire was represented at the World Scout Jamboree by 72 young people and 8 Adult Leaders. 

The theme of the 21st World Scout Jamboree in 2007 was “One World, One Promise” – which captures the aspirations and hopes of young people for the future.

40,000 young people camped, lived and worked alongside each other, They came from a variety of different cultures, backgrounds, and religions. More
