2007 - Centenary Dinner

Adult volunteers and supporters of Scouting from all over Berkshire celebrated the Centenary of Scouting at the Flavell Suite at Sindlesham Court on Friday 18 May. All were treated to an evening of culinary delights, a display of Scouting memorabilia organised by Rupert Allison and stimulating presentations from the County President, Philip Wroughton, Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire and from Richard Butler, County Commissioner for Norfolk. There were many special guests including outgoing Commissioner for England, Jane Lewis, Sue Kidd, County Commissioner Girguiding Royal Berkshire and Asa Gurden outgoing Field Development Officer.

In making a toast to mark the Centenary of Scouting, Philip Wroughton said 'The Scout Association embodies the magic sprit of help, hope and happiness with international ideals. Scouting should be very proud of its achievements over the last 100 years and what it will achieve in the next 100 years'. |

Replying to the toast on behalf of the Scout Association, Richard Butler said 'Once a Scout, always a Scout - Scouting is about creating dreams and memories. It is through your efforts that young people have a fantastic time week after week, thank you for your dedicated hard work. |
